I feel so sorry for Jake. I’m not a psychologist but I think that Rebecca is very manipulative. Last week she was so proud how Jake stood up for her. After last night it’s now a turn off that he stood up from her. Poor Jake he is so lovely and deserves a good person to be by his side. As for Melissa she from what I can see already has low self esteem and from experience you accept crumbs when you deserve the whole load. Love truly can be blind. Cant wait for next episode.
What I can’t understand is why Bec is so invested in Bryce & Melissa’s relationship. Just don’t talk to him–put your energy into their own relationship. So sick of her. Yes Bryce has a problem, but if Melissa is into him, it’s none of their business. Friends support friends and if Melissa changes her feelings about Bryce, then they should be there to support her. That’s all I have to say about this. Bec is a pain.
I agree. Bec is using Melissa as an excuse to be a bitch. Every time Bec brings up Bryce all it does is hurt Melissa, that’s not looking out for her. And Bec is a bully and doesn’t deserve an apology. She’s a manipulator and an instigator.

Bec is an incredibly cold person but it’s no wonder why after seeing the way her mother interacted with Jake on the cinema trip. One minute she agrees with Jake standing up for her and then the next minute ‘he’s stooping to Bryce’s level’ which is a pretty low blow and a bold statement. Melissa I feel at this point is being emotionally manipulated by Bryce, he has segregated her away from the rest of the group thus removing any possible support network for her through the experiment. Her evident abandonment issues are causing her to accept the behaviour displayed by Bryce and therefore pandering to his every move in an attempt to prevent him from leaving. Bryce is fully aware of the insecurities that Melissa has and is using it to his advantage to keep at least one person in his corner.
To be honest, I’m really disappointed with this season of MAFS, you can tell the producers have considered ratings to be of a higher priority than creating real connection between two people. By this point in this experiment a lot of couples have left and that’s purely because they weren’t actually matched with somebody they were truly compatible with. Chris and Jaimie, Jo and James, RUSSELL AND BETH I mean come on!
Really hope that next season (if there is one following all the controversy around this season) the producers focus more on real compatibility between people instead of what they think will make for ‘dramatic’ television.
I agree. Rebecca is a master manipulator. She knows exactly what game she is playing. Her playing the victim when being called a bully, was laughable.
Bryce’s attempt give her a kiss after his faux apology was TOTALLY out of line! How dare he extend anything more than the simple handshake that he offered Jake (however fake it was). What world does he live in to think that was the move to make?! GEEZUS.
Melissa is giving off vibes that are akin to ‘battered wife’ syndrome. Don’t say anything remotely negative about your partner , lest you anger the beast. Been there , done that. She walks on eggshells constantly.
I always seem to comment before I complete the episodes, so now I am off to finish this one. I have been binge watching for a couple of days, here in the USA.
I have just started episode but couldn’t help nosey .. omg no way she kicks off that he stands up for her??? loooool can’t believe this all occured 5 weeks ago allegedly yet no one told melissa til 4 weeks later. Why didnt she go straight to melissa one on one tell her what happened and leave mel to make her mind up that would have been caring for melissa. not telling everyone else first and having them all talk about her behind her bac and then her finding out from someone else and having to work out who had said what. How embarrassing and hurtful must that have been knowing all your so called friends had been talking about you gossiping for 4 whole wks!! Now keeps adding extra bits of info to story! Funny how she now says she is done !! Melissa has ben asking her for wks to stop yet she thins she has come to this decision herself. She is so deluded!!

I disagree. He doesn’t go about things in the right way but she is standing up to people intent on breaking his relationship up. He shouldn’t rise to it no and they didn’t get off to best start but they are trying to see if it will work and can’t catch a day off the attack. They have tried to protect Melissa and Melissa has said she is fine it should have been dropped. If Bec is proven right in the end then Melissa will have to deal with that at that time. Let them do them now and what will be will be. I’ve been in a controlling relationship and my partner never would have stood up 4 me but also i couldn’t be told either i had the blinkers on and had to come to the mind set on my own. You can’t make someone listen if they don’t want to hear it all they are doing is making her feel shit and constantly puttng her in confrontational situations everytime they see her she can’t go out without having to worry what will be thrown at her next for a timid person like that must be awful i hate confrontation too and i bet she feels like she doesn’t have a single friend in that group!
I totally agree Claire…my ex husband was a prize narcissist and I was an abused wife…he never once in 20 years of marriage, stood up for me…not even if the kids were cheeky. Bryce is not manipulating anything…I wish he could express himself differently and tell them to butt out passively but he is fragile too at the moment. His mother on movie night was brutal and he was clearly upset and his father just sat there and said nothing…I thought straight away…ah ok that’s why he is so sensitive and emotionally not as mature as Melissa. His mum wears the trousers for sure. As for Rebecca….she is a self absorbed person and a trouble maker. I wish someone there would see her for the pot stirrer she is. As for Patrick…well I liked him a lot before the letter to Booka and Brett and now with all this drama he’s adding to in a very negative way…he has gone down in my estimation. True colours are being shown now right across the whole bunch. Let’s all remember though that the producers are leaning on them all to deliver entertainment. If they all got on well and there were no difficulties and drama Kings and Queens amongst them…then there would be no stories…and the ratings would be low…meaning less ££’s in those pockets. I’m also remembering why the previous psychologist left…these contestants are hand picked to produce entertainment. The UK series this last time is going down the same rabbit hole. Having said that, I do enjoy the show for the most part. After tonight’s though, I was seething with Rebecca…lol. 😉
Honestly I am so glad that somebody else has picked up on and mentioned this. Melissa looks like she is really struggling. It is obvious that Bryce is being abusive towards her.. he is emotionally manipulating her and she hasn’t got even the slightest clue. Bryce has segregated Melissa from the group so that she doesn’t have anybody to support her that is going through the same experience that she is. To write leave and then claim it was an attempt to ‘protect her’ is just absolute horse shit. I am really shocked that the producers let it go on for as long as it did. I know they’re [the producers] are after ratings but fucking hell this is taking it a bit far.

In this episode is the first time I’ve seen Melissa smile since the wedding! Such a sad thought.
I’m definitely worried about possible abuse in her future. Bryce’s anger has been directed at other people up until now. What will happen when he gets angry with Melissa?
You are all so right about Melissa, I’m just hoping we’ll see her epiphany and rejection of Bryce soon. As the “experts” (eye-roll) said, this couples retreat is a taste of what life outside the experiment would be like. Melissa can expect to be isolated from her friends and forced to defend her partner’s awful behaviour to avoid his anger being directed at her instead. What kind of life is that?
Bec is also vile, a total manipulator who creates and thrives on drama. I’ve lost respect for Jake watching him enable her and defend her. Belinda and Patrick seem so young and immature, both in their own relationship and in the way they interact with the others – letter to Booka for example. High school level of maturity – maybe they both needed someone with more experience. Not sure about Booka and Brett, I thought they were a good match at first, but now she seems full of herself and Brett is a wet blanket who lets his best mate Patrick complain for him. Alana and Jason will be stuck in a cycle of arguments and make-up sex if they stay together. The only couple I rate here are Kerry and Johnny, so far they have presented as nice, decent, normal people – unusual for this show haha!
Jason and Alanna – its just sex . That gets pretty stale after a while, they need more surely. This lot really are a weird bunch, I don’t get how they were chosen. Nobody needs to go into Melissa and Bryce, Bryce is poisonous and Melissa is getting more and more to be a Stockholm hostage. Can’t even go to girls night !!! WTF

Melissa is not being manipulated. She is just desperate and clings to Bryce despite all the negative comments (towards her and the rest or the people) and embarrassing behaviour. Patrick and Belinda were endearing at first but now they are just showing really immature behaviour and let’s not even talk about Bec and Jake. She is literally giving him half a crumb and behaving like a total brat and he’s still there. Like WTF.

Bec organised everybody work for her and enjoying every scandal. She is queen of darkness. Poor Jake, wants her attention and ready to do everything for it. Just unbelievable how nobody sees it?
I can’t believe that the whole group stands behind Rebecca, it is so obvious that she is a drama queen and a manipulator. And Jake just want to be the nice guy with the good manners, he should tell her to focus on them not on the other couples.

Totally agree. I think both Rebecca and Bryce were both chosen to cause conflict to gain TV ratings. Patrick started the arguments initially with Sam and continues to goad Bryce each time they all come together. The experts did not chastise Sam for sniggering and laid the blame at Bryce’s door. Rececca sniggers too when Bryce defends himself. She knows exactly what she’s doing. Playing the victim. Don’t buy it. She fancies Bryce. Jake she’s not the right person for you. The group as a whole are now bullying and ostracising Bryce and Melissa. Stop initiating the same argument over and over and focus on your other halves.
I was in an abusive relationship and recognise that Bryce and Melissa are good together.
I agree Dee…I said to a friend that it was very unfairly managed by the experts…they picked up Bryce on his behaviour and let Sam, Rebecca and Patrick interrupt with inappropriate remarks.
